Flightphase

Flightphase is led by Karolina Sobecka and James George.

Embracing emerging technologies, interactivity and new media as well as the traditional tools of creative expression, Flightphase focuses on considered design and unique creative and technical solutions, developing work that is engaging and evocative.  In addition to working as a directorial team, Flightphase works on art commisions and independent art projects.

Karolina is an artist, designer and animator.  Her artwork often engages public space and explores the way we interact with the world we create and imagine.  It has been shown internationally, including at the V&A, MOMA, Beall Center for Art + Technology and ISEA, and has received several awards, including from Creative Capital, Rhizome, NYFA, Princess Grace Foundation, Vida Art and Artificial Life Awards and Japan Media Arts Festival.

James George is a media artist and software developer working at the intersection of code and physical space. He advocates creative appropriation of emerging technology through releasing open source tools. James is an Eyebeam alumnus, active contributor to the openFrameworks platform, and adjunct faculty at NYU’s Interactive Telecommunication Program.
