Roel Wouters and Jonathan Puckey
Dutch designers Roel Wouters and Jonathan Puckey have joined forces as part of Nexus Interactive Arts. Having recently collaborated on the highly original
interactive video ‘One Frame of Fame’, a constantly evolving crowd-sourced music video, they have also together developed the Conditional Design manifesto which presents a view on design which focuses on processes rather than products.
Roel joined Nexus Productions for worldwide representation in 2007. Having featured in the Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors Showcase and chosen to be part of Creative Reviews ‘Creative Future 2008,’ Roel’s conceptual and cutting edge work has certainly got people talking. Roel has worked on a myriad of projects and collaborations including installations, interactive art, video performances and has exhibited his work at museums and notable venues across Europe.
Work includes the critically acclaimed ‘zZz is playing: Grip,’ which has won numerous awards including Prix du Clip at 2008 Festival Clip, France. His follow up promo for the band’s track, ‘Running with the Beast’, also won big at the Int’l Film Festival Breda 2009.
Jonathan Puckey is an independent graphic designer living and working in Amsterdam. He was selected as one of the top ‘20 under 30’ visual artists in Print magazine 2010. His work involves a mix between programmed automation and the intuition of the designer. He plays with the inherent limitations of print design and the perceived limitless possibilities of programming.
In addition to installations and interactive art events, notable work includes a developing a rasterization tool, ‘The Delaunay Raster’, which Jonathan uses to create monthly portraits for Russian Esquire magazine. He has also created a ‘Text Pencil’ tool for Adobe, which allows you to draw with text. Combining Roel’s artistic and directional expertise with Jonathan’s design and programming know-how creates a force to be reckoned with.
