The film was made mixing live action with 2D and 3D animation. Jim Le Fevre designed the characters, which were then made into hollow finger puppets by Scary Cat Studio in Bristol. To give an additional Christmas feel to the snowman, icing sugar was incorporated to his silicone mix, giving him the perfect finish. The puppets were then filmed in a live action studio set and animated on camera by animators hiding below the cake. Eyes, mouth, eyebrows and arms were then added in the post-production, a process similar to Jim’s experimental “Finger Theatre” project.
